We Are

The Gamliel Institute Certificate Program is designed to encourage, support, educate, train and develop a strong Jewish corps of professional and volunteer leaders who will help create a holistic continuum of care in their local communities.

2) Chevra Kadisha; Taharah and Shmira

Liturgy, training, safety, complications

 

3) Chevra Kadisha; Education, Organizing and Training

Leadership and communal education and training, including issues with funeral homes and funerals, cemeteries and burials

 

4) Chevra Kadisha; Nechama

Listening, ethical wills, remembrance, Shiva, Bikkur Cholim, hospice, organ donation

 

5) Chevra Kadisha; Liturgy and Ritual Practice

Traditional sources, changes, roles of Rabbi, autopsy, organ donation, suicide, cremation

 

6) Chevra Kadisha; International Perspectives

Examination of variation in practices around the world, centered around a two weeks study mission to New York, Prague and Israel
